Summit Peak Loop

Our journey for the day was hiking up to Summit Peak - which includes a 40 foot observation tower.  This is the highest point in the Porcupine Mountains.

Jim and I overlooking the dense green canopy.

We were feeling adventurous and decided to hike the Summit Peak Loop - which included about 7 miles of loopy paths and narrow trails.  It was a pleasant walk through the deep woods - with the birds chirping and the frogs leaping... what a great day for a walk in this scenic forest!

So, I dropped my sunglasses one too many times - and the darn lens popped out!  We all had a good laugh at how silly they looked!!  We had to get a picture!

 Lily Pond

Some tiny saplings in the HUGE, lush forest.  These trees were thriving in the small areas that had sunshine... it's hard to say how many of them will actually survive.
