Our family vacation: July
16 - July 22 was a true success! No
reservations were made, no planned arrangements, no expectations. We were on our way! With the van packed, we headed out on Monday
afternoon (after I got home from class).
Jim drove the entire way - with a few pit stops along the way (to get
snacks, use the bathroom, stretch our legs).
We drove until about 10:30p.m. - making our last stop the dark, damp,
cabin in the middle of the woods. We
trudged through the waist-high grass and weeds to get to the front door. Accidentally locking the door behind us set
us back about an hour - but we fixed the broken window. Porcupine Mountains was our home for the next
3 nights. We explored the adventurous
trails and found some beautiful lakes.
We weren't able to find a campground on Friday night, so we stayed at a
cozy, running water, fluffy pillowed hotel.
We ventured out on a boat cruise on Saturday - unsure of how sea-sick
any of us would be. The waters were
choppy - but we all help tight (okay, maybe some of us were a little white in
the face). We decided to head towards
home - stopping in a small town north of Petoskey for the night. Sunday brought us back to the comforts of our
own home! It was a great vacation - but
it sure was nice to be home!
I decided to snap a quick picture of the
Mackinac Bridge
as we passed over to the U.P.
Castle Rock, St.
Ignace, Michigan

Rises almost 200' above the surrounding area *
Excellent
view of Mackinac Island, Lake Huron and the surrounding area
Sunset from the top of Castle Rock
Chris had to try and get a better
view
Mike saw something interesting in the distance
